F.A.Q.1. How much time will Project S.E.E.E. take?
Not much! You and your group will teach for about an hour each week, and travel is usually not far (totaling at most 2-2.5 hours/week, even if you're the driver!) We also have one meeting per month, which will be announced at the beginning of each semester. Pizza and other food/desserts will be served at meetings and we also may arrange to have socials throughout the semester. ;) 2. I have group of people that I would like to volunteer with. Is this okay? Sure! Readily formed groups are always welcome. Just make sure you all have the same availability, and know that you will have to be flexible to work within the teachers' time slots for visiting. 3. I am interested in Project S.E.E.E. but I have no experience teaching children and wouldn’t know where to start. Don’t worry. We have a locker filled with lots of interesting science and math related activities and kits. Older members and our website will have great ideas as well! And once you get started, you'll probably come up with your own exciting and unique experiments. 4. What if I don’t have a car? Members who don’t have cars will be grouped with those who do. When you list the times you are available to teach, please specify if you have a vehicle or not. 5. May I request a specific grade level? Of course! We will do our best to accommodate your preferences, however we are limited to those teachers who respond, and the time slots and grade levels available. You'll be able to pick from them based on your own schedule. Don't worry though -kids of all the grade levels are excited to learn from UT students, and there are tons of lesson plans catered specifically for all the different grades, so you'll be able to find fun projects for any age that you might end up in! :) |
